Why Does My TikTok Have 0 Views

Finding trending audio, coming up with a nice script, recording and editing the video and then getting no views on it- very few things can be worse than this!

But it’s not that uncommon and can happen even if you have thousands of followers. So let me share with you the reasons why your TikTok video got 0 views and how to fix that.

Why Does My TikTok Have 0 Views? + How To Fix It?

Here, I have covered almost all the reasons why your TikTok account may be getting limited engagement. However, sometimes, it can also happen due to algorithm changes.

The latter is a little difficult to manage, I must admit. However, for the majority, the view count issue revolves around these reasons.

Reason 1 – Low engagement

If your account generally has low engagement rates, it is possible that the TikTok algorithm will mark your content as unexciting. Platforms like TikTok are all about user experience and entertainment, so if your content seems boring or the same as always, the algorithm won’t push it to the FYP (For You page).

To solve this, you can do a couple of things.

The first step will be to come up with better video scripts. If you can’t come up with engaging content ideas, get some inspiration from the top creators of your niche.

HOWEVER! Don’t copy their ideas. Copying their ideas bit by bit might make your situation even worse.

Also, if you have an average video quality, try to invest in a better camera. Content with good video quality always grabs eyeballs even if that is just a timelapse of sunset or something not so creative.

Reason 2 – Multi niche content (not focusing on one niche)

If you are posting video tutorials one day and reaction videos the next day, you are confusing both the algorithm and other users. That is still fine, but what’s worse is not sticking to a niche.

Imagine visiting someone’s profile where the first five videos talk about sports cars, then the next few about luxury makeup, and the next few about personal finance.

Would you trust any of the things that person talks about in their content? Most people won’t, because the person has failed to communicate or show their expertise in any of the subjects.

The algorithm also doesn’t promote what people may not find helpful, so again, your video will not land on the FYP. Therefore, stick to a niche.

If you have more than one niche to talk about, you can always create a separate account and post on that.

You can have multiple accounts, but make sure you are not posting the same TikTok content on all your accounts, or your accounts will be taken down under the spamming charges.

Reason 3 – Your account might be new

If your TikTok account is super new, like created within the last 24 hours, then it can also be a reason behind your video getting zero views. It is because before pushing your content to the For You page, the algorithm verifies your account and checks its trustworthiness.

Besides, based on your first few content, the algorithm decides the best-suited audience for it and shows it to them. If your niche is unique and not something that people have talked about before, it will take even longer to find the right audience.

There isn’t much you can do in situations like these. However, while you wait, make sure to go through the community guidelines.

Now check if your video aligns with them. If your video contains something that’s against the community guidelines, the platform will take it down.

Reason 4 – Inappropriate content

Every social media platform has its community guidelines for users. If you don’t have the patience to go through Tiktok’s community guidelines, let me give you a brief summary of it.

There are certain types of videos that the platform flags as inappropriate, and you need to avoid making that content.

The prohibited content includes-

  • Violence
  • Nudity
  • Gruesome visuals
  • Misinformation
  • Self-harm
  • Dangerous challenges
  • Content that depicts, commits, or incites non-consensual sexual acts
  • Content that commits promotes, or glorifies sexual solicitation or sexual objectification
  • Content that includes schemes to engage popularity, like giveaways and tasks.

If your content is related to any of the things I mentioned above, TikTok will automatically delete your account.

Plus, you should also avoid paid fake engagements. Such as buying TikTok followers, viewers or likes.

Reason 5 – You aren’t using the right hashtags

Hashtags play a big role in helping the TikTok algorithm find your audience. If your account is fairly new, plus you aren’t using any hashtags, it will take a lot of time for the algorithm to understand your content.

However, if you use the right hashtags, the algorithm will share your video with the audience who watch content with those hashtags. So, never forget to add hashtags to your TikTok videos. It also helps you reach a wider audience.

To find the right hashtags, you can use free online tools. There are some good ones out there by Hootsuite and Ahrefs

You can also use the search option on the TikTok app to find the hottest hashtags in your niche. Plus, you can always get ideas from top creators who make similar content. If you’re following TikTok trends, then you’re inadvertently using the hottest and the most relevant hashtag variants.

But make sure you are not using any blacklisted hashtags because, then again, your video will get deleted.

Reason 6 – Shadow Banned

Now, if you have quite an old TikTok account where you used to get decent engagement but now don’t, it can be due to a shadow ban. It’s a very sneaky thing that TikTok does because you won’t even get a notification if your account gets shadow-banned.

However, you can spot it easily. If your video does not get any views even after 24 hours of posting, it can be a sign of shadow-banning.

To find out the reason, go through your previously posted videos and check if any of them violated the community guidelines. Remember, your content is not always the issue. Posting multiple low-quality videos can also be a reason.

To lift the shadow ban, first, delete the faulty contents. Following this, you have to clear the cache, update the app, or uninstall and reinstall it.

You should also avoid reposting the same video content you have uploaded on other social media platforms you’re a part of.

Reason 7 – Controversial Subject

Just like prohibited content categories, if you make content on controversial subjects, your account can get shadow-banned or permanently deleted.

Now, what exactly is controversial? Well, it is hard to define. But anything that can start revolts and riots, like political agendas, religious debates, or anything that promotes harmful things like drugs, tobacco, eating disorders, etc.

Steer clear from these subjects if you don’t want TikTok to delete your multiple videos.

Reason 8 –  Bad Internet

Sometimes the problem can be as simple as bad internet. If your internet connection was poor while uploading your video, it can show a glitch. You may see that the video is already uploaded when, in reality, it isn’t

If your content nullifies all the reasons I mentioned before, then you can blame the internet. The only way to solve this would be to delete the video and reupload it.

Make sure you delete it first, or else you will be posting the same thing again and will fall under spamming.

And I hope I don’t have to repeat what happens if you post spam on TikTok!

Reason 9 – Use Of VPN

If you are travelling to places where TikTok is banned, chances are you won’t be able to post anything using their ISPs (internet service providers). In that case, you can use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to route your internet connection through another country’s server.

It is because TikTok uses a combination of things to determine your actual location. So, even if you are from a country that allows TikTok, you can’t use it in a country that has banned it. So, use a VPN to change your IP address, and you should be good.

Conclusion

I hope this guide helps you solve the view count issue on your TikTok video.

Focus more on the community guidelines, as TikTok often gets crazy about them. If you got shadow-banned, it will take a week or two for it to get lifted.

During that time, avoid posting anything on your account. I know it can be tough, but you can always read our helpful blogs to keep yourself entertained.

FAQs

Why does my TikTok have 0 views after an hour?

There can be multiple reasons why your TikTok video has 0 views after an hour. If you have an old account, it can be due to a shadow ban or internet issues.

However, for a fairly new account with no engagement, it can happen due to the TikTok algorithm reviewing your Tiktok profile/content or you not using relevant hashtags.

TikTok no views after 24 hours?

If you have no views on your TikTok video after 24 hours, check if the video got uploaded and if it follows the community guidelines. These two are the main reasons for accounts that usually get decent engagement on their content.

I only get 20 views on TikTok?

If you got more views before but now have only 20 views on your TikTok video, it can be due to the change in algorithm. If your content doesn’t align with the latest algorithm updates, it will not reach the amount of people it used to do.

If you’re not following the latest TikTok trends, then it’s nearly impossible for you to reach a larger audience. It might not also qualify as engaging content for your target audience. Hence, you stay in the loop of fewer views for your video.

Plus, if you have posted any similar content before, it can also be the reason behind lesser views.
